Clothing – An Important Reflection Of Your Lifestyle
We all know that fashion is more than a powerful industry it’s a statement on who you are, what you like, your lifestyle, personal tastes, beliefs, views, and opinions. It’s the most valid form of self-expression giving you plenty of methods to express yourself with including colours, styles, designs, accessories, even shoes. This article gives you some examples of clothing styles and what lifestyle they reflect. It’s important to realise which lifestyle your style is reflecting, as you may be sending the wrong message to the one you wish to be sending.
Classy and preppy individuals are most likely to wear timeless pieces that transcend the test of time, for example classic boot cut jeans, wool or cotton cardigans, tall shaft boots, and classic button-up shirts are essentials in the wardrobes of classy individuals. They often invest in items of superior quality and carry the latest designer handbags, wallets, and accessories. You’ll rarely find new trends in the outfits of classy individuals, as they prefer items with longevity and staying power.
Business men and women, on the other hand, love wearing power suits. When they wear a suit business professionals represent a trustworthy, dependable and confident image, which earns them respect and trust. Even those that do not work in a high-profile job or office setting can turn heads when wearing a power suit or elements of a suit. Contrary to common belief, tailored suit jackets aren’t just for men. When paired over a dress, with a nice pair of jeans or trousers, and a dress shoe, a tailored jacket shows that you are woman who means business. Pun intended.
Music lovers, fashion risk takers, and retro personalities can love wearing classic band logo tees and graphic t-shirts. Those with an appreciation for the arts enjoy wearing bright colours, such as yellows, oranges, and neon colours if they’re into 80s retro. The main point of this style is to wear clothing that speaks for their personalities. Wearing a band tee lends a casual and cool vibe and allows artistic individuals the opportunity to share their love of music with all they encounter. A growing trend for retro personalities is to wear tees with pictures of their childhood favourites, for example tees with sesame street characters, or old Nintendo controllers shows what they loved as a child and feel nostalgic for.
Studies show that people who choose to wear more subtle pastel colours are often more withdrawn, while people who enjoy loud colours, bright prints, and graphic details tend to be more outspoken/life of the party types of individuals.
Those that gravitate to vintage pieces, retro accessories, and playful items are generally quirky in personality. Some are self-defined as book worms, while others enjoy calling themselves “eclectic.” There is a big difference between the vintage enthusiastic and the retro personality. Vintage tends to choose a time period, which is further in the past sometimes not even part of their own lifetime, and opts for the most stylish clothing of that period. Retro personalities stick to their own timeline and memories, and can be very anti-trends.
Ravers and Goths are similar in that they express themselves almost exclusively through their wardrobes and the make-up they wear. Here is, however, where their similarities end. Ravers tend to wear bright, neon colours combined with typical raving accessories, such as fingerless gloves, glow sticks, and whistles. The more colour and the extremer the make-up and hairstyle are the better. Goths in contrast, wear all black in both clothing and make-up. They are into heavy metal music and dark emo music. Men can often be seen wearing band t-shirts, while women often wear corsets combined with skirts of all lengths from the very short to the extremely long. The intent is to shock with their dark style.
People who enjoy luxury and rap music often wear the latest and freshest pieces. Their look is always pulled together, fresh, polished, and never scuffed or dirty. These types of people always feel that designer and brand names give them an edge over the competition and also give them a boost of confidence when they wear these items. They tend to always put their best face forward and rarely leave the house without being entirely put together.
Style defines most of us, in some way. The way we dress tends to dictate our mood and gives a little bit of insight into our personalities and the types of lifestyles we lead. As we go through life and experiment with styles we eventually find the clothing we feel most comfortable with because it represents who we really are.
